Key differences between on Premises SQL Server and Azure SQL DB (a.k.a Azure SQL Database Managed Instance)

Stephen Giles, Director of Data Maturity Dimensional Strategies Inc

As businesses move more and more to Platform as a Service for their Cloud solutions SQL Azure Database is becoming a popular replacement for on premises SQL Servers and SQL Server running as Infrastructure as a Service. This session will look at the difference between on premise and PaaS bases SQL Server (particularly the SQL Azure Database Managed Instance variant) and help you prepare to move your on premises SQL Servers to the cloud.

About Stephen:
Stephen Giles is Director of Data Maturity at Dimensional Strategies Inc. His passion is helping companies to see the big picture when it comes to their data platforms and to focus on value rather than technology and buzz words. That being said, he has worked on every SQL Server version since SQL Server 6.5. He lives with his wife and two children in sunny Markham, ON.

Azure Data Factory – New SSIS in Cloud

Mladen Celikovic, Sr. Business Intelligence Consultant Dimensional Strategic Inc.

Is Azure Data Factory going to replace traditional SSIS or any other ETL tool? Let's also focus on end to end implementation review and DevOps best practice

About Mladen :
Mladen is a Sr. Business Intelligence Consultant focused on delivering high-quality enterprise data solutions to clients and helping companies to increase their business success through Microsoft Data Platform. Making data talking to business and creating their success stories drive his passion for analytics. Big Data Clusters for SQL Server 2019

Buck Woody, Applied Data Scientist Microsoft

Starting with SQL Server 2019, SQL Server big data clusters allow you to deploy scalable clusters of SQL Server, Spark, and HDFS containers running on Kubernetes. These components are running side by side to enable you to read, write, and process big data from Transact-SQL or Spark, allowing you to easily combine and analyze your high-value relational data with high-volume big data. In this session we will explore Big Data Clusters for SQL Server 2019.
