Hybrid models have part of the data imported into to the vertipaq model, and part of it joined dynamically from external sources using direct query. This approach has some cool advantages and can provide great experience to the users, but it also has some limitations. We will cover pros and cons of this modelling approach and showed how to build such a model in a live demo, this would make a fun and interesting night.

This approach has allows building some cool models and can provide great experience to the users, but it also has some limitations. In this talk we will explore pros and cons of composite models, and show how to save some valuable Power BI memory by offloading some workloads to other engines, while preserving both the report responsiveness and access to all the data at the same time.
